Would recommend for sure, Jo has been extremely helpful over the last 12 years that i have had my 1 bed flat. Nothing seems to much hassle for them and wouldnt hesitate using them or recommending them to friends or family.
What a shocking experience.Went for a 4 bed house 50 cheaper than our current one. 1) they insisted on seeing bank statements. This is perfectly reasonable, so I provided them showing my salary, which is over 3000 a month going into my account and also the current rent, every month. This was declined, because I blanked out all the bits not relevant, such as petrol, restaurants and general stuff. It was insisted that they were full and unblanked. I reluctantly did this though I felt it intrusive, and subsequently they mentioned to my wife that I had nothing to be embarrassed about....they had indeed been checking through what I like to spend my money on....not that has the slightest thing to do with them.I argued what if I had been to a gay bar and dont want you to know about my private life when giving reasons why its reasonable for me to blank out certain things on my statement. This led to them question my wife whether we were actually happlily married.....totally missed the point and asked irrelevant intrusive questions, all the while trying to catch the others eye which wasnt good....luckily I told my wife about the above so she was aware of the point I was trying to make and they missed.2) My wife doesnt work as we have 4 year old twins and we agreed that she would be a full time mum if I paid the bills....perhaps a bit traditional, but our choice and I earn a good salary. Anyway, her bank statements were required, despite GD stating that they werent actually going to count her income. She provided them, then they were scrutinised, questions being asked about what she spends money on and why she receives Carers allowance...remember, this was going to be disregarded anyway, so non of their business who is disabled (which is me, for the record....yes I'm disabled, but have a good job.....big shock).3) my wife went to the office with paperwork and they commented on the twins having a magazine and whether that was a good spend of my wifes money. They cost 1 each and frankly, its non of their business what we spend our money on.4) they received a good reference from my work....I know because the HR manager gave it to me before she sent it to approve it. The current landlord also sent me a copy of the reference. No debt, permanent full time work earning good money and no issues at all. GD then came back and asked the my wife why the landlord didnt answer their (unknown) number. They wanted the current landlord to prove that they were indeed the landlord Despite the bank statements showing they are paid every month the exact rental amount and their details being confirmed by reference on e mail. The current landlord reasonably declined to give any further proof (perhaps title deeds) and as they rent out plenty of other property, wasnt pleased at this overkill, which now has reflected on us as current tennants. We had a perfectly good reference from the current landlord and I see their point in refusing further private information that isnt relevant. 5) The attitude from both women at GD has been absolutely appalling. Very snappish, rude and arrogant. Despite more than enough evidence being provided to show employment, income, previous behaviour and suitablitliy my wife felt like she was on trial for murder. Get over yourself ladies, you are just estate agents and obviously lack the key skills at that. After reading the other google reviews, clearly we have dodged a bullet anyway.6) Finally, I rent property also in my native town up north. I have a bit of experience of rental from a landlords point of view and if I found that this was happening at an agent I rented my property through Id go bonkers. Lots of wasted time and lots of loss of income. Our experience explains why this nice house hasnt been rented for 3 months and has had the price dropped twice. Its not the house, its the agents. Avoid at all costs. We will see what the regulatory bodies say.*** Company are flagging this review as Spam to have it removed so I have reposted it again***
DONT TOUCH THESE AGENTS!!! I viewed a 4 bed property to rent that was perfect size and location for my family and a price we could easily afford. I paid the holding fee and provided ID,and bank statements which clearly showed my husbands wages would easily cover rent and all bills.. it also showed that weve payed rent and bills on time everytime at previous properties, they then received my husbands work reference that again confirmed he is a permanent member of staff and that he received the amount of wages that we had declared, they then recieved the reference from our landlady who again confirmed that weve never missed a rent payment and the house is looked after.. there was no reason to believe we wouldnt get the property, they then phoned me to say they needed proof that the landlady is in fact the landlady, how were we supposed to do that ?!? So I rang the landlady to tell her what they were asking and she was understandably annoyed and said she wasnt going to give a random agent any personal details and had already given a reference and answered the questions asked of her, so they turned us down for the house for something we have no control over even though we have a good income and always pay bills on time.. I feel deeply upset about the whole process.. they were rude and made me feel that I was trial and kept asking me questions about things that were non of there busines such as why was I receiving careers allowance ? Even though they couldnt count that income ! I WANT TO WARN EVERYONE TO STAY CLEAR OF THEM !! They deserve less than 1 star !!!
Means well ...but the duty of care that comes with providing accommodation is somewhat lacking , especially in unusual and non predictable circumstances... The business is family owned and provides employment for the daughter of a well known property developer/builder done well. The quality of rentable accommodation that is afforded to prospective tenants is first class....However, a fine example of take it ...or leave it , you need us .....we don't need you
Took a deposit then said they didn't what me to rent the property and in her word, she didn't trust me, I mean really how rude. I own my own company. So rude. And then they refused my money back.
